After watching his side return to the Premier League's summit, Carlo Ancelotti thanked the players for their excellent form in January.
Without four African players it had been anticipated that we would struggle, particularly with no Didier Drogba but instead we have won each of our four games, scoring 17 goals in the process, the icing on the cake being that tonight's three points were enough to take us above both Arsenal and Manchester United, who meet this weekend.
'We did very well in January and I want to thank my players because they did a fantastic job without the Africans, we could have had some problems but did very well,' Ancelotti said after the 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
'It is good to be top, we have one point more with one game less and two more than Arsenal, so we have to pay attention to their game and maybe we can improve the table by Sunday.'
There was praise for the performances of two Englishmen, two-goal Frank Lampard and Joe Cole, who laid on Florent Malouda's opener.
'Joe Cole had a fantastic start, a fantastic assist for Malouda, and his performance was very good tonight,' he said, adding of Lampard: 'I think that he is using good movement and we are doing well in front, using all of the pitch to attack, so he is able to run into the box and score.
'I think he is the best runner of the midfielders in the world, he has fantastic quality to run into the box at the right time.'
