ONE FROM FIVE IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW

There are familiar names awaiting as potential opposition in the Champions League first knockout round. Following the completion of the group stage on Wednesday evening, it is now known Chelsea will face one from Panathinaikos, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Porto and Juventus for a place in the quarter-finals.

From that selection, Barcelona will need no introduction, having faced the Blues in four of our previous six Champions League campaigns.Porto too have been drawn against us more than once - in the group stage in 2004/05 and then in the first knockout round two seasons ago. Bayern Munich were quarter-final opponents in 2004/05. They have since moved to a new stadium.

Even the two clubs not faced previously, Panathinaikos and Juventus, are managed by ex-Chelsea personnel. The Greek team is under the command of Henk ten Cate, assistant first team coach last year and the famous Serie A side is coached by Claudio Ranieri, a veteran of Chelsea's second Champions League campaign.

The draw will be held on Friday 19 December at 11am UK time, the venue Uefa headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The first leg at Stamford Bridge will be on 24/25 February, the away leg on 10/11 March.

Dua gol Chelsea dari Kalou dan Drogba telah cukup buat Chelsea untuk mendapatkan tiker ke babak knock-out, 16 besar. Terry dkk mengumpulkan poin 11 dari 3 kali kemenangan, 2 seri dan satu kali kalah. The Blues berada di posisi runner-up grup A di bawah AS Roma yang berhasil mengumpulkan 12 angka.

MATCH REPORT: CHELSEA 1 ARSENAL 2

Dua gol dalam 3 menit oleh Van Persie telah cukup buat Arsenal untuk membalikan keadaan. Ya, Arsenal memperoleh poin penuh di markas Chelsea tadi malam walau sempat ketinggalan oleh gol bunuh diri Djourou pada menit 30. Van Persie memang menjadi bintang kemenangan Arsenal dalam laga ini.

Gol pertama Van Persie sebenarnya bisa dipertanyakan karena ia terlihat berada dalam posisi offside. Walau bagaimana juga penampilan Arsenal memang oke tadi malam, mereka bisa membuktikan bahwa permaianan skuad muda mereka tidak kalah dari pemain Chelsea yang syarat pengalaman seperti Deco, Ballack dan Lampard.

Statistik Chelsea bulan November 2008: Tidak Stabil

Big Match derby London tadi malam akhirnya menjadi milik tim tamu. Arsenal menjadi klub kedua di Liga Primer yang mengalahkan Chelsea musim ini setelah Liverpool. Uniknya dua kekalahan ini didapat di kandang sendiri, Stamford Bridge. Kekalahan tadi malam seakan melengkapi tren tidak stabilnya penampilan Chelsea bulan November ini.

Musim ini Stamford Bridge tidak begitu menakutkan bagi lawan, karena beberapa tim berhasil mencuri 1 poin di sini, seperti Tottenham, MU dan Newcastle. Namun catatan laga tandang Chelsea sebaliknya, Chelsea selalu menang dalam 8 kali partai tandangnya.

Grafik kemenangan Terry dkk terlihat menurun pada bulan November ini. Dari 8 kali laga yang digelar pada semua ajang yang diikuti, the blues menderita kekalahan 3 kali, seri dua kali, dan menang 3 kali. Kekalahan dimulai oleh Roma di Liga Champions, lalu sepekan kemudian dikalahkan Burnley di Piala Carling. Arsenal melengkapinya dengan kekalahan di Liga dua minggu berselang.
